Wake County man charged with insurance fraud

RALEIGH
Apr 23, 2025

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today that Justin Kevin Baba Alexander, 31, of 825 Stadium Drive, Wake Forest, has been charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense. Both charges are felonies.

According to special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division, Alexander falsified documents claiming lost wages in the amount of $1,630.75 in a claim to Westfield Insurance Co.

The offenses occurred on Oct. 27, 2024, according to arrest documents.

Alexander was arrested in Cumberland County on April 22 and is awaiting the outcome of a bond hearing. He is expected to appear in Wake County District Court on April 25.

“Insurance fraud hits consumers in the wallet,” Commissioner Causey said.

“Approximately 20 cents of every insurance premium dollar goes to covering the cost of fraud. I’m fighting this by aggressively pursuing and prosecuting insurance fraud in North Carolina.”
