North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Keshawn Dupree Bradley, 31 of 370 S. Kerr Ave., Wilmington. Bradley was charged with insurance fraud and identity theft, both felonies.
Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Bradley of using the name and date of birth of another person to obtain an automobile insurance policy from Nationwide Insurance Co.
The offense occurred on Jan. 15, 2024.
Bradley was arrested on April 11. She was given a $5,000 secured bond and due in New Hanover County District Court on April 14.
Commissioner Causey encourages North Carolinians to help keep insurance premiums low by reporting suspicious fraud.
“Insurance fraud is not a victimless crime,” Commissioner Causey said. “It hits all of us in the pocket through higher premiums.”
