North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Kenyatta Danyelle Maldonado, 43, of 805B Pembroke Dr., Plymouth. Maldonado was charged with insurance fraud, a felony
Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division state that Maldonado filed an auto damage claim with Peak Property and Casualty stating her vehicle was hit during gunfire on Dec. 28, 2024. Maldonado had filed the same claim with another insurance carrier months earlier.
Maldonado was released on a $20,000 unsecured bond and is set to appear in Washington County District Court on April 1.
Commissioner Causey encourages North Carolinians to help keep insurance premiums low by reporting suspicious fraud.
“Insurance fraud is not a victimless crime,” Commissioner Causey said. “It hits all of us in the pocket through higher premiums.”
