Guilford County woman charged with forgery of instrument and uttering

RALEIGH
Feb 25, 2025

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of Asiah Lenee Person, 30, of 5028 Hilltop Road, Greensboro. Person was charged with one count of forgery of an instrument and one count of uttering a forged endorsement, both felonies.

According to special agents with the NC Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division, Person used a two-party check made out to both her and an automotive business from National General Insurance to Chase Bank, knowing the business had not endorsed or signed off on the check. She later attempted to present the check, now fraudulently signed, to a financial solutions business in Greensboro.

According to the arrest warrant, the offense occurred on June 30, 2021.

Warrants were issued for Person on March 15, 2023 and she was arrested on Dec. 12, 2024. She was released from custody under a written promise to appear and appeared in Guilford County District Court on Jan. 14.

“Insurance-related fraud crimes hit consumers in the wallet,” Commissioner Causey said. “Approximately 20 cents of every insurance premium dollar goes to covering the cost of fraud. I’m fighting this by aggressively pursuing and prosecuting insurance fraud in North Carolina.”
