North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey has announced that another Victim Assistance Center (VAC) has been added to assist those affected by Hurricane Helene. The new VAC will open in the Mitchell County town of Bakersville on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
The VAC will be located at the Mitchell County Senior Center, 152 Ledger School Road, Bakersville, N.C. 28705 on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In addition, Commissioner Causey announced that the Department of Insurance as accepted an invitation to participate in the Henderson County Disaster Recovery Center Resource Fair. That fair, which began on Friday, Nov. 15, will continue on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Blue Ridge Commons, 2111 Asheville Highway, Hendersonville, N.C. 28791. The fair will also be held on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 22-23, from 1 to 6 p.m. At the fair, Department insurance experts will continue to assist those affected by Hurricane Helene.
“The Department of Insurance will continue to host events to help with insurance claims and other needs,” Commissioner Causey said. “We are committed to working with local law enforcement agencies, fire departments, rescue squads, civic groups, charities and churches to help Hurricane Helene victims.”
