Commissioner Causey announces victim assistance centers in Transylvania, McDowell, Ashe, Caldwell and Jackson counties to aid those impacted by Hurricane Helene

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner has announced that Victim Assistance Centers (VACs) will open in Brevard, Marion, Jefferson, Lenoir, Sylva and Old Fort to aid those affected by Hurricane Helene.

The following VACs will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.:

  • Monday, Oct. 28, at the Community Services Building, 106 E. Morgan Street, Brevard, N.C. 28712.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the McDowell County Senior Center, 100 Spaulding Road, Marion, N.C. 28752.
  • Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 29-30, Family Central Parks and Recreation Center, 626 Ashe Central School Road, Jefferson, N.C. 28640.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 30, Caldwell HHS Building, 2345 Morganton Blvd. SW, Lenoir, N.C. 28645.
  • Thursday, Oct. 31, Jackson County Annex Building, 198 WBI Drive, Sylva, N.C. 28779.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 6, AC Bud Hogan Community Center, 909 E. Main St, Old Fort, N.C. 28762.

“We are working to set up additional VACs and will continue to coordinate with law enforcement agencies, fire departments, rescue squads, civic groups, charities and churches to assist victims of this terrible storm,” Commissioner Causey said. “The Department of Insurance will continue to host events to help with insurance claims and other needs.”
