Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will join experts from the NCDOI Fraud Control Group, Criminal Investigations Division, SHIIP and other community officials to address the harmful and growing issue of insurance fraud crime and what the public can do to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves from scams.
The presentation will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at the North Carolina Cooperative Extension-Pasquotank County Center Building, located at 1209 McPherson St., Elizabeth City.
This is the fourth town hall on the topic after others were held in Leland, Rockingham and Hillsborough earlier this year. The department is planning more events across the state throughout the course of the year.
“With scams and frauds taking a greater toll on Americans than ever before, I encourage everyone in the community to attend and learn the ways they can protect themselves from the disastrous effects of scams,” said Commissioner Causey.
The event is free, open to the public and media outlets are invited to join and cover this event.
