High Point woman charged with insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretenses

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today that Alexis Bryanna Shubert, 32, of 1460 Cantwell Court, High Point has been charged with one count of insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretenses, both felonies.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today that Alexis Bryanna Shubert, 32, of 1460 Cantwell Court, High Point has been charged with one count of insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretenses, both felonies.

Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Shubert of creating and submitting a falsified receipt to Permanent General Assurance Corporation of Ohio in order to receive reimbursement for auto repairs that were never performed.

According to the criminal summons, the offense occurred on May 22, 2023. Shubert is ordered to appear in a Guilford County courtroom on March 7.

Commissioner Causey encourages North Carolinians to help keep insurance premiums low by reporting suspicious fraud.

“Insurance fraud is not a victimless crime,” Commissioner Causey said. “It hits all of us in the pocket through higher premiums.”
