Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey is proud to announce that NCDOI’s Chief Deputy Commissioner Jackie Obusek was awarded the Robert Dineen award at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Fall Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida.
This award, named in honor of the founder of NAIC's Support and Services Office, recognizes regulators for outstanding service and contributions to state insurance regulation.
Commissioner Causey nominated Obusek for her outstanding service and leadership.
“No one is more deserving of the Robert Dineen award than Jackie Obusek,” said Commissioner Causey. “She is passionate about protecting insurance consumers and has been dedicated to this goal for over 27 years. Not only is Jackie a tremendous leader for our team, but she has been an instrumental in enacting model laws for the insurance industry.”
Obusek is a Certified Public Accountant and started as an entry level financial examiner with NCDOI in 1996. She has continuously served in various roles and received promotions to leadership positions for her excellent performance.
Over her 27 years of protecting insurance consumers in North Carolina, Obusek has also served on various financial working groups, task forces, and committees on behalf of NAIC and the people of North Carolina.
Recently, Obusek chaired the Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Working Group (MGIWG) -- helping to develop a new model law for the industry in response to the financial recession.
Under Obusek’s leadership, North Carolina has implemented processes and procedures to remain an accredited state with sound and reliable financial oversight standards.
Obusek also actively participates and represents North Carolina on various committees within NAIC. She is Vice Chair of the Accounting Practices and Procedures Task Force, a member of the Capital Adequacy Task Force, Reinsurance Task Force, and Receivership and Insolvency Task Force.
