North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will present three SAVE awards and a Heroism award during visits to Rowan and Catawba counties on Thursday Jan. 5.
Commissioner Causey will present the awards to officers whose quick actions helped save lives.
SAVE awards will be presented to Rowan County Sgt. Patrick Schmeltzer, and Deputies William Johnson and Hanna Hodges, who pulled a man from a mobile home fire in Rockwell back in November 2022.
Commissioner Causey will present a Heroism award to Hickory Police Officer Dylan Cornett, who rescued two children from a mobile home fire in May 2022.
