North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey, who also serves as State Fire Marshal, will join local and state officials for a “hose uncoupling” ceremony and groundbreaking on Monday, Sept. 19, beginning at 2 p.m. at the FTCC-Cumberland County Regional Fire & Rescue Training Center in Fayetteville.
The hose uncoupling at 2 p.m. is the firefighting version of a ribbon cutting. Commissioner Causey will join state and local leaders to uncouple short sections of a fire hose to mark the grand opening of the new 24,000 square-foot building. The new facility is part of a 30-acre complex that will provide state-of-the-art training programs for fire and rescue emergency personnel.
The groundbreaking ceremony at 3 p.m. will mark the beginning of construction for a new indoor Swift Water Rescue Training Center. This will be the only indoor facility of its kind on the East Coast of the United States -- allowing first responders to train year-round for water rescues.
