North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will present the Order of the Guardian, the Department of Insurance’s top award, to three men during a visit to Rockingham County on Saturday, May 21.
Commissioner Causey, who is also the State Fire Marshal, will honor Ronald Perkins, Joel Madren and Tony Pruitt during the Williamsburg Fire Department and Rescue’s annual community business meeting. The Order of the Guardian is the highest honor given by the N.C. Department of Insurance.
The presentations will take place at 6 p.m. at 175 Williamsburg Road, Reidsville, N.C. 27320.
Perkins is one of the founding members of the department who assisted with the construction of the original building. He has served in every role in the department, including serving two separate terms as fire chief.
Madren joined the department in January 1978 and has served for 44 years. He has held many positions in the department and currently serves as vice-chairman of the board of directors and as deputy chief. He has been chief of the Reidsville Rescue Squad for more than 20 years.
Pruitt Joined the department in October 1980. He currently serves on the board of directors and is the first assistant chief.
