North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of John Edward Hight, 57, of 439 Baldy Murphy Road, Louisburg, and Ernest Broughton Tharrington Jr., 44, of 40 Casino Lane, Franklinton. Both were charged with two felony counts of obtaining property by false pretense and two misdemeanor counts of setting up mobile homes without a license.
Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse the two of obtaining $6,410 from two different people for working as a mobile home mover and set up contractor without being licensed.
The offenses occurred between Aug. 12, 2020, and Jan. 26, 2022.
Special agents and Franklin County deputies arrested Hight and Tharrington on March 17. They were released under $40,000 unsecured bond each. They are due in Franklin County District Court on April 22.
