North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of Glenn Jackson Mitchell, 66, of 1807 Petty Road, Kingstown. Mitchell was charged with identity theft, obtaining property by false pretense, and three counts of common law forgery, all felonies.
Special Agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Mitchell of obtaining personal identifiable information of Cicero Gill Jr., including his date of birth and Social Security number, for the purpose of applying for and obtaining life insurance policies with New York Life Insurance Co. listing Mitchell as the beneficiary.
According to arrest warrants, Mitchell forged Gill’s signature to insurance forms and falsely said she was Gill’s sister.
The offenses occurred between Aug. 10, 2006, and Dec. 29, 2018.
Special Agents, along with Cleveland County deputies, arrested Mitchell on Jan. 17. She was released on $10,000 unsecured bond.
