In recognition of Fire Prevention Week which runs from Oct. 6-12, Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey is organizing a statewide fire drill.
On Saturday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m., fire sirens will sound across the state to remind people to plan and practice their fire escape route.
“Situational awareness is a skill people need to use wherever they go,” said Commissioner Causey. “No matter where you are, look for available exits. If the alarm system sounds, take it seriously and exit the building immediately. You may have less than two minutes to safely escape.”
This year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign is “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape!” The campaign works to educate everyone about the small but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe.
