Mitchell Weiner serves as the N.C. Department of Insurance's Chief Information Officer (CIO).

With over 30 years of experience leading national and global teams, Mitch is recognized for driving innovation while prioritizing people. His leadership philosophy integrates technology and human connection to deliver impactful solutions and measurable outcomes.

Mitch holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and certifications in computer engineering and related disciplines. He has led large-scale transformation projects, emphasizing proactive, customer-centric approaches to exceed client expectations. A skilled mentor and coach, he builds high-performing teams grounded in collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.

Before relocating to North Carolina in 2018, Mitch lived in New York, where he taught and performed Argentine tango—an experience that honed his appreciation for creativity, discipline, and personal connection.

Honored to serve the people of North Carolina, Mitch is committed to leading the DOI’s IT team in fulfilling its mission to protect the state's people and property.
