Amy Funderburk
General Counsel
Amy Funderburk serves as the N.C. Department of Insurance's general counsel.
Amy grew up in eastern North Carolina and holds both a Bachelor of Science in Child Development and Family Relations and a Master’s Degree in Education from East Carolina University. She received her law degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. Her previous North Carolina state government experience includes work as deputy counsel for the Administrative Office of the Courts, as the Clerk of Court for the NC Supreme Court, and as an assistant attorney general at the NC Department of Justice. Her most recent role was as corporate secretary and senior counsel for the North Carolina State Employees’ Credit Union.
Additionally, she has served as an adjunct professor at Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law and is chair of the Foundation Board of the Raleigh Kiwanis Club.
Amy is a highly experienced and dedicated public servant who brings a wealth of knowledge in government to this highly important position.
